LEOPARD OF THE CIVILIZED WORLD

Leopard of the Civilized World

“Ekpen N’Owa” (Praise Name for the Ọba of Benin)
In the early part of the Record breaking Black Panther movie, there is a scene where one of the characters is in London at a Museum and taken on a tour of African Art. He is shown an ivory royal mask of Iyoba Idia—Queen Mother of the Benin Empire from the 16th century, and a later figure from the 17 century on which the character commented.
The character corrects the curator’s educational explanation, when he states “Naaw, it’s from Wakanda! (a fictitious Black Panther movie nation). In my opinion, much of the movie’s exciting story-line was broadly based on and influenced by the real-life history of the ancient Benin Empire located in West Africa in the present day country of Nigeria.
Advanced spiritual sciences, magic, miracles, and supernatural technology is at the core of the ancient Benin Empire’s indigenous belief systems. Benin has the oldest existing monarchy on Earth.
The leopard is the true king of the animal (uncivilized World) in Africa lore:

King of the Forest
In the Benin Empire the praise name for an animal leopard is Ekpen n’oha or “Leopard (king) of the forest”. He is a highly prized animal and can only be hunted by royal leopard hunters in the Benin Empire and is under the Ekpen N’Owa (Leopard of the civilized World—praise name for the king of Benin) royal protection.
